About

Welcome to Storer’d Thoughts.

I’m John D. Storer II. Hi. Hello. Greetings. Who am I? What defines that small part of the space-time continuum as “me”?

A programmer. I started very young with programming. My first language was QuickBASIC. I’m very logic-oriented. I now employ C# & ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL, MySQL and Oracle. I have also, for the last few years I’ve been knee-deep in the customization of our school’s PowerSchool pages.

A married man. I have a beautiful and loving wife named Amanda. We got married in 2002, and haven’t looked back since.

A[n expecting] parent. We will soon be adopting a little Henchmen (or Henchwoman?). There’s a story there. It’s cute. I’ll tell it later. I am also owned by two beautiful cats, Isabelle and Mia. They are our furbabies. I also used to have a dwarf hamster, Necoconeco (or Echo, for short).

A musician. At least I used to be. Music can move me like nothing else. I was in a Marching Band in high school. I played the clarinet (b♭ Soprano and Contrabass) and was a wiz at matching pitch. I once got knocked down from First Chair to Seventh, because my band director thought I needed a challenge. No, really.

A rationalist. I believe fervently in rationality and humanism, I’m also a progressive and a social liberal. I suffer no fools gladly, but when asked will help you understand.

A gamer. I play PC Games. I’ve been a leader in a UT2004 clan, have visited every corner of Cyrodiil and Oblivion, destroyed The Great Destroyer as a guild officer, survived the trip through the Omega-4 Relay, and have punched a hunter in the face while taking out a tank single-handedly. Also, Luigi rocks harder.

The Site

So what’s the point of this site? Am I selling something? No. Is it an advice column? Nope. Will there be rants? Yes. Coding advice/stories? Yup. Cute cat videos? Check. Humor? Sure.

It’s a personal blog. So the topics will range quite a bit over random subjects. I might talk about work, or play.
